SUP is back!

Stand Up Paddle Boarding is back!

The RAWCF crew is getting back together for a second time on September 7th
to get in the last paddle of the summer. Everyone is welcome to join in on
this event, and learn from the best of the best, Bill Trayling. Bill will
be coming to Balm Beach to show us moves on riding the water.

Classes will be held at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm and are limited to 8 people a
class so sign up now on our website to get in the time slot you want with
your friends before it’s all filled up! The 6pm class will be a little
more advanced and is for people will some experience or people who
attending the last SUP event with RAWCF.

Introducing..

RAW CrossFit would like to introduce you to our newest extracurricular activity; RAW Barbell Club – An old school, no nonsense strength class to implement into your CrossFit training.
Tired of feeling scrawny or weak?

Want to get stronger?

Then the RAW  Barbell Club is for you!

You don’t have to have super human strength and anything fancy to join. All you need to do is show up with a positive attitude and work hard. One of the best ways to improve your WOD scores is to get stronger. Our goal with this class is to get YOU strong. Show up and put in some overtime, your body will thank you. Consider this more of a training and  learning class than a competitive one. The main focus here is to better ourselves, not inflate our ego.
Using a variety sources ranging from Olympic calibre strength trainingprograms to hardcore underground tactics, the class will ELIMINATE any weaknesses you may have. Strongman and Powerlifting will be the main movements. If you have no clue what those things are then you have even more reason to partake in this badass club!

Oh, and we have new equipment coming in just for this!
The Club will have a dedicated trainer that will work with you and other class members. There are limited spots available and you must sign up for this special class on the RAWCF website. The meeting dates are to be determined but we are shooting for the first week of September. On the survey you received there is a question asking what day of the week  would work best for you, so if you are interested please answer that question then head on over to the website and sign  up!

SUP is a go. Meet at Diverse Rentals/Hindson Marina tonight to get your paddle on.

For anyone who has signed-up to go SUPing tonight, we will be meeting at Diverse Rentals located at Hindson Marina on Champlain Rd. Penetanguishene (see the map below). Don’t let this mornings weather fool you, it will be sunny and beautiful by this afternoon.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding: August 3rd – spaces limited.

The RAW CrossFit Event fairies have been hard at work setting up a fun and exciting “Get you out of your comfort zone” WOD experience for Wednesday August 3rd.

Join repeat Olympian and NCCP Level III certified paddling coach Bill Trayling as he teaches us how to become efficient paddling machines in the up and coming sport of stand-up paddle boarding (SUP).

SUP paddling sessions will replace the 4,5 & 6pm WOD.

Space is limited to 8 people/hour (we can do 12 if demand is there).
Cost is $20 per person and includes your board and paddle rental.

Stay tuned for the put-in location.

Canada Day 2011

Just a reminder, the RAW CrossFit team will be in Little Lake Park Midland tomorrow all day to celebrate the birth of our nation.

Classes will be held at 9:30am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm .

Come get your WOD on, support RAWCF, and support Canada in the park tomorrow.

Don’t forget to wear your RAWCF gear!

Learn to Row with the Georgian Bay Rowing Club

Looking to improve your technique and PR on the rowing machine? Wanting to join a new sport? Would you like to actually row a boat, on the water?

This is your chance! The Georgian Bay Rowing Club is offering its first Learn to Row of 2011 on Friday, May 27th, from 6-8pm, and Saturday, May 28th, from 7-9am. (There will be other Learn to Row sessions offered, at later dates and times to be announced.)
The cost is $125, and will be credited toward a GBRC rowing membership upon joining the club. The club is located at 783 Little Lake Park Road, right near the skateboarding park.

Financial Fitness Seminar with Paul Larmand

Financial Fitness Presentation:

We don’t plan to fail…..we fail to plan!

This is the second time I am coming in to talk Financial Planning to the RAW Crossfit Community.  The first session went great so I have asked Devin if I can come in again and share some info!  The goal of the session is to share financial planning advice….for free….with no strings attached.

When it comes to Financial Planning and your “financial well being” I think there are some major similarities to Crossfit.  My argument is this:

  • • Everyone who does Crossfit did some other type of workout(s) before they found Crossfit.  Maybe you ran or did back and bi workouts (I am guilty of this one) and somewhere along the line someone introduced you to Crossfit.
  • • This is when you realized that although those other ways of working out have some advantages none of them were going to get you to overall well being or optimal health like Crossfit.
  • • Financial Planning and dealing with a Financial Advisor is a lot like this.  Often people are going along saving and taking advantage of some tax saving opportunities or retirement saving plans and somewhere along the line they are introduced to a Financial Advisor and given a Financial Plan.
  • • This is when they realize that although the things they have been doing to improve their financial situation may have some advantages none of them will get them where they want to be like having an overall financial plan.

If you are interested in learning about comprehensive financial planning and getting a few free strategies that you can apply to our own plans please feel free to come on out!  This session is applicable to virtually anyone at any stage of life.  If you have some questions this is a good chance to come out and ask them in a relaxed and easy going environment!

I’ll even bring along some Paleo snacks for the session. Please sign up at the front desk if you are interested so I can have enough food for everyone to enjoy!

Let the games begin…

The first WOD is up.

AMRAP in 10mins. 30 double-under, 15 power snatches.

Who is going to rise to the challenge?

Just to reitterate, anyone who wants their personal score to count towards RAW CrossFit’s team score, must signup on the Games Website before Sunday at 8pm EST.

We will be performing the games WOD at RAWCF every Thursday for the next 6 weeks. Judging will be STRICT, so I highly recommend everyone watching the video on the games site about how to be a good judge.
